Hi guys, my laptop (Vaio VGN-C2Z/B) started displaying an image distortion..
I firstly thought it was the faulty nvidia GPU (GeForce Go 7400), but when I opened the laptop and changed all thermal paste and thermal pads, nothing changed... oh well, since it is 5 yrs and a half old, it was necessary anyway...
then, just to confirm, I connected a VGA external monitor, and the image there shows up just perfectly... so faulty GPU definitely ruled out... LCD brightness is optimal, so faulty inverter ruled out too..
The two suspects now are the LCD panel and the LVDS cable that connects the panel to the mobo.
I read that wiggling with the cable may reveal its defectiveness, but nothing happened when I tried. I also read that applying a gentle pressure on the panel may reveal its defectiveness, but still nothing happened.
Help! Any ideas about what could have happened, any test I could perfom in order to discover which one is the faulty component?

    Thanks!!
