I have a Linksys WRT300N Wireless N Router and was wondering if and how I can get my TZ in "N" mode? Right now it's in 802.11bg w/ a rate of 54.0 Mbps. Will N get a higher speed rate"
-
I tried changing my settings on the Linksys to only N mode but the TZ couldn't get online so I put it back to the mixed setting.

I believe some models of TZ only have a/b/g wireless capability and not a/b/g/n. Maybe look up the model of your Intel Wireless LAN adapter?

Thank you.. but a dumb question how do I look up my LAN adapter? Also with N how faster is it over bg?

Look in Control Panel > System > Device Manager (I'm sorry I don't know what that's called in Vista). I think you should have an Intel 4965AGN, which is indeed 'Draft-N capable'.
If you're desperate to reach N speeds then try updating the drivers for your wireless adapter (from Intel's website) or updating your router's firmware, or both. Be careful not to disconnect the power or reset your router during a firmware update though, or you might brick it.
Oh, the first thing to check is to log on to your router's config interface and make sure it's actually using N and isn't just set on "b/g only" or similar...
If you can get it working and assuming the perfect environment, wireless-N should be able to achieve speeds similar to regular wired 100meg ethernet. The connection speed will say something like 150mbits or even 300mbits, but after overheads and Real Life are taken into consideration, you won't get anywhere near that. Still, wireless-G has a theoretical maximum of just 54mbits, so N is considerably faster.
Trouble is, 802.11n isn't yet a fully finalised standard (it's on Draft 2.0 at the moment) and not all devices behave perfectly with eachother. Thus, your mileage may vary, I'm afraid. -
I'm up to date w/all my router updates, and I have the router set up for mixed which is bgn and on my TZ it says I have an Intel (R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN ...

OK I can't get it to work.
I was on w/both Linksys and Sony (chat support) and sony sent me directions on how to enable/disable Wireless-N which it was already enabled and Linksys had me change my security setting and then to put it on N only which didn't work I had to put it back on to mixed. Has anyone gotten there TZ to 802.11n that can help me? -
oh and now I have 802.11abg w/same Mbps data rate of 54.0 is there any benifit of abg to bg?

Thanks
I'll try it when I get home from work. I was going to do that but it had a warning that you should get it from Sony, so I didn't.
What speeds are you getting w/the N? -

EDIT: let me check and get back to ya on that one. iam not in the same house as the wireless router is. so maybe tahts why the numbers aren't as high.. i expected it to be 300.. but its not right now.

Hello, I'm new in the forum, I'm from Colombia, sorry for my english.
I have the same problem with my SZ770N/C which has Intel 4965AGN adapter, can't get it to work on N mode. I already updated the driver (from intel) ver. 11.5.1.15. Adapter properties show 802.11n enabled, but in Wireless modes it only shows a/b/g.
My router is a DLink DIR-655 with the latest firmware available.
I also contacted Sony Support but they told me it won't work until September when the N standard is expected to be completed, which is obviously not true.
I'm running Windows Vista Business 32bit SP1.
I would appreciate any help,Attached Files:

Ya NCX I have that same set up that you have taken a picture of so I guess we can't go into N?
-
I looked on the Intel drive updates and on 10/08 they had an update:
"Microsoft Windows Vista* Drivers for Intel® WiMAX/WiFi and WiFi Links, Intel® Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN and Intel® PRO/Wireless Network Connections"
Has anyone tried this? It says "Intel recommends that you obtain and use the software provided via your laptop manufacturer" has anyone tried it? Will it get "N" to work?

I have a tz170n/b and connect at 130mbs, and a dlink 655,configured for bgn and wpa-2 only settings. I been told if you set the router for "n" only and wpa-2 you can get up to 300mbs, but I have not tired that yet.

I can't get my tz into N and best I think I get is 54mbs
can the TZ 150 get "n" connection w/ WLAN?
