What are you asking?

So you made your decision and chose the TZ. Well, I'm sure you'll enjoy it.
One comment. It seems you are getting it from Conics and that you are having them install English Vista. If that's the case, I would advise you not to get Vista Home Basic as stated in your configuration, but go for either Vista Business, Home Premium or Ultimate. That is unless you don't want features like i.e. Windoes Aero.
Have a look at the Vista differences here:

Nice config, I see nothing wrong with it, heck, I'm jealous.
Just don't expect to get the advertised 9 to 12 hours on that battery in real world usage, only if your notebook's screen is off and completely idle. -
Congrats, these are the ideal specs for me too.
At December I will order the same model exactly. Why don't you add wireless n also? Is like 30$ more or something like that...and maybe one day it will be useful.
The Wide Warranty I assume is for accidental damage no? What cases does it cover? -
well basically I'm asking for opinions, input, and thoughts is this the best set up I can get while still having the dvd burner
yeah JabbaJabba you kind of talked me out of the W7 also why should I upgrade vista if you guys all always say to downgrade to xp or am I missing something
p.s. I haven't pulled the trigga yet but I'm itchy -
For people with the lower end TZs, like with 1gb of ram and the regular 1.8" 4200rpm hard drive, Vista (especially with tons of Sony bloatware) will be pretty slow and running a clean XP or Vista would be much, much faster for them.
For your high end config, it won't be as much of a problem, but XP would probably still get you better performance and battery life, but I don't know if its worth going from Vista to XP for you though. -
Can anyone comment on whether it would be best for him to order ram elsewhere to get better timings/speed? It seems with only one stick, it would be important to get ram with very good timings and latency ratings
-
zkaudio what exactly are you talking about imma lil slow lol
-
can anyone shed some light on the docking station how exactly does it work and is it worth it
-
You will most likely NOT get that battery life. Expect 2-4/hrs.
-
damn 2 to 4 how come I hear 6 to 7
-
Users are reporting around 5-6 with wifi on.
-
Sony always seem to exaggerate on their battery life
-
I have heard 4-4.5 hours playing a DVD movie on medium brightness.
-
If you don't really need it now, wait for the upgrade of the TZ, in January. Specs are going to improve.
-
-
If you can work in the dark, you can probably get 5.5 hours out of the standard battery, but that's not how I like to work. -
With my previous TZ90 the standard battery lasted at least 5-5:30 hours. With normal usage, vaio optimized, wi-fi on and brigtness 80%( 2 squares down the full brightness).
When I travel, I put Vaio Power Saver or Ultimate and I manage 6:30 hours. -
I'm with ubercool on this I know I'm gonna want to enjoy that rich screen all jaked up
what's the norm for protection for the tz is the a skin or lcd protector that anyone can recommend as far as keyboard cover I'm pretty sold on this
http://www.cooskin.com/product3.html -
Yea, my cooskin is on the way, I look forward to protecting my keyboard from wine-wielding Iberia stewardesses!
Reminds of that old joke. Captain announces over airplane intercom: "We're about to land, please return the flight attendant to the upright position!" -
- no dvi (the SZ docking station had it)
- has gigabit LAN, but the vaio TZ already has it
I do recommend getting a second AC adapter if you get the docking station so you dont have to plug that in as well. Carry one in your bag and have the other one on the docking stationI guess it comes down to what peripherals you have like external hard drives and the need for an external monitor. If you do use those things then its a good idea to get the docking station so you dont have to unplug and attach them everytime you need to move around... just hit the undock button and away you go... -
does anybody have any info on the Jan. update
-
I remember that you sold your TZ90 with the 32 GB SSD+DVD. Did you already purchase another one or you will wait for the next generation? -
Happy Thanksgiving
(shameless bump)
can you please look over my specs before I order
