I would like to know how one could change the white keyboard to the black keyboard.

I might have a white keyboard in my SZ and a spare black SZ keyboard lying around.

Between F1/F2 and PrtScr/Insert there are small black buttons. Push them in and gently lift the keyboard.

I'm not sure if you have to unscrew the center screw on the bottom as well. I had to take mine off when I changed the HD, so I had to unscrew that center screw.

    Either way, it's easy.

got keyboard off the unit but its still attached to it by a ribbon cable. Seems that its possible to disconnect it compleatly, but am unsure if this is ok. anyone else done this part in particular?

Done it. Problem solved. The bits either side if the ribbon cable connector on the motherboard simply slide forwards towards oneself, not to the left or right. Then ribbon cable pops out.

If one doesn't screw the centre restaining screw in on the underside of the Vaio then the keyboard goes into spogy bouncy mode...

    Zii:

Where did you purchase the white keyboard for your SZ? I have the SZ140 with the black keyboard and I think the white keyboard will look good on it.

    Thanks.
