I want to do a clean windows installation. If I do it, will the recovery partition be deleted?

I would advise you to look in the forum a bit. Here is LOADS of clean install guides and experiences regarding installing clean WinXP and Vista.

Daelyn's advice is good. The short answer to your question is ONLY if you tell it to delete the partition! I used "BootIT NG" (a partition manager, to delete the C: drive partition and leave the restore partiton alone. Then when I booted the Vista install CD, it saw the "unpartitioned" space and I told it to install itself there. Afterwards the recovery partiton was still intact.

I don't know whether this is the right thread to put it, but I don't want to start one given that my query is about a clean windows installation.
I have received my VAIO FZ11s today, and I'm gutted because the chunk it has already installed seems like it's gonna stay there for ever, unless a clean installation is done.
However, sony says that no CDs or DVDs are supplied. So, how on earth am i going to do this installation? I have asked support but still no answer. Has anybody else had this issue? -
