    constant noise when vaio's switched off!!

    hi

    i have a sony vaio vgn-fj3m, the computer is great have no problems with it exept this noise. the othe day after switching off my laptop i had my head next to it and heard a very quiet noise, i got home from work later that day and it was still doing it constantly, if i take the battery out the sound stops but when it goes back in it starts again, and it has done it ever since i noticed it. it is quiet high pitched and you can only hear it if you put your ear to the bottom of the laptop. is this normal or is the a problem with my laptop? i only purchesed 6 months ago.
    can any one please help??
