I have a Sony VGNFW285DH with a 1920x1080 XBRITE LCD screen, I noticed a slightly darker coloured line/band at the bottom of the LCD. I took it back to the store and got another one, but it has the same issue too. I am now seeing the same issue in the store demo model, so thats 3 laptops with this same band at the bottom of the LCD going all they way across.

Is this a common issue with the full hd screens? I didn't notice this on the Sony laptop with 1600x900 resolution at the store. Do most people live with it? For me, its not noticeable at all running regular windows apps, but the taskbar hides it. But playing full screen video, it is somewhat obvious.

on my dell m1210, when i updated the driver, i also got a black band on the bottom of the screen where the taskbar is

when i move my mouse there, a "shadow" of my mouse appears, so there's basically 2 arrows.. it's hard to explain

i rolled my driver back to the older version and it's fine now, i'm wondering.. do you have this "shadow" arrow thing that i'm talking about? try moving your mouse to the bottom of the screen and if you notice anything weird that sounds like what i'm describing, tell me!

i don't think it's a driver related issue, it there no matter what application I have open, ie if I am playing a full screen game, the same faint band is there in the bottom of the sceen.

Maybe it is burn-in from the taskbar?
