    I am ordering a notebook from Sony but I am not sure what the option for "Blu-ray Disc™ Read Only Drive " has. Can it burn regular cd/dvd's? If so do you know what the speeds are? or is this drive strictly for watching bluray/cd/dvd? ... this is for an FW-290 but I would just like to check even if you don't own this exact notebook.

    yes they can, you have to read the specs on the drive to tell the speeds
