    Dear all,

in my local store there are two series of SZ series :
    - VGN-SZ79GN/C
    - VGN-SZ75GN/B

SZ79 uses carbon-fiber casing, while SZ75 uses magnesium.
my question is, does sz75 use LED technology for the display screen ??
some source said the magnesium sony uses conventional CCFL.

if that is true, then the dell xps M1330 has better screen and longer battery life than sz75 ??? cos, xps m1330 has already used the white led for the display.

pls, i need clarify on this issue, cos i had to choose between both sony SZ75 and dell xps M1330.

Not all Sony SZ use LED backlights. Neither do all XPS M1330. It's optional. The specs can be found on Sony.com and Dell.com.

Usually the magnesium SZ'z come with CCFL backlight, so your source is right I believe. But better just check the specs. If LED is not mentioned you can assume it's ccfl.

The Premium SZ models use LED backlights. An LED screen is a configuration option for the m1330.

does the led lacklight make huge difference to the conventional ccfl ?
(impact to battery life, crispier or brighter or anything else ??)

It's brighter for sure but not by a huge amount (maybe 20% brighter?). There was a slight color difference (between my S and SZ (w/LED); the LED display was a bit more vivid (I think because of a 'whiter light'). It requires less energy at the same intensity of CCFL. Supposedly temperature variations affect the diodes in the display but I've never noticed a big difference. If you have the option you should take it (over the CCFL). The next step up is OLED which are even more efficient and don't require a backlight. None of the current Vaios have that yet though. :(
