Does your laptop vibrate when it is actively spinning a CD? By vibrate I mean a feedback throughout the laptop, strong enough to feel distinctly when typing, especially near palmrest area.

Also, when you first insert the tray, is there a little mechanical buzzing sound? And when spinning does it periodically make a noise I can only describe as beeping accompanied by a few mechanical switch sounds periodically?

Yeah mines vibrates pretty much, i guess that's a drawback given that there's not a lot of mass or room in there for much dampening, as for the sounds you hear, i don't use cd's/dvd's enough to notice, but the spinning is sort of intense

Very normal. CD's aren't always balanced while they're spinning, so you get vibration.

I got things like you described, too, although I'm on the VGN-Z. I think it happens to every laptop, just how noticeable. It's annoying, but pretty normal.
