    Hi guys

I just bought my VAIO VGN FZ140E that comes with a T7100 Core 2 processor... but when I first opened the Device manager, I got surprised to see that it says my processor is a T7300... both of them... the welcome center says it's a T7100, just like the specifications when I bought it...

I wanna know if this is some kind of mistake of the machine, or if I can overclock it....

    thanks!

I already scanned for hardware changes but it still says T7300.... what if I try to uninstall one processor and reboot???? will windows detect the processor and install it automaticly, fixing this, just like I saw in another post???

I believe someone here posted a similar problem, except their config has the T7700 but it still showed up at T7300. I think the conclusion was that the image file used to install all FZ computer was created for a machine using the T7300, so the device manager automatically kept the setting.

Try removing the devices completely from device manager, 1 core at a time and rebooting. The computer will detect changes in hardware and the correct CPU should be reflected. If you just run a hardware change detection, it probably won't expect the CPU to change so that's probably why it wasn't detected.

Windows might ask you to reactivate it if it detects a "changed CPU"

After reading someone else's post yesterday i got brave enough to do it myself as well. it works fine now and shows everything correct and consistent. i did have to reboot a few times. also, i did NOT have to reactivate windows as someone worried about... i can't tell that anything is different, except it shows the right thing now. i suppose this is more for the anal retentive, perfectionist in us that we did it... it did give me a bit of inner harmony for a moment--i have to admit.
