    Hi
Today was my worst day ever!! I had my notebook in the my bookbag and accidently the bag fill off the table tipping on it head. The notebook got damaged from the corner (the plastic edge that is connected to the aluminum palm rest.)

Is there anyway I can replace this side by a new part? I bought the sony ADH plan when I bought it, but according to it it doesnt cover mishandeling and such.

    Thank you

Sorry to hear that. Is ADH is accident care for Sony? If so, you may be covered.

Otherwise, if it's a chassis damage. its going to be hard to replace.

Yeah its Accidental Damage from handeling. but the problem is they are refering to technical issues. I need to call them and double check

The entire notebook is solid except for the left and right endges, its like made out of plastic compared to aluminum palm rest!!

Accidental Warranty will not fix it for you as it is considered "cosmetic" damage. The same thing happened to me. In order to get it fixed for free I told them I dropped my laptop (which I did) and said the plastic thing came off AND that my DVD drive was malfunctioning.(even though it was fine) This way got it fixed for free.

Where can I get a copy of the TOC for the Accidental Warranty. Sony really knows how to exclude this and that out of their warranty coverage. Now I am not sure if I should get the accidental warranty coverage, since it pretty much doesn't cover anything accidental.

My experience with ADH is bad as well since most of the time, the technician who comes out to repair the machine is not that familar with the machine. They sometimes even have hard time to take machine a part. :(

Since my part is on the left side, I have to make up a story about the memory stick adapter :)

If their accidental damage isn't going to fix that, then can't you make the damage worse? "Accidentally" running the notebook over with your car for example.

According to the ADH terms, if they fix or replace your notebook equal to the value of your purchase then the ADH will be fulfilled and end early even if your warranty is not completely up. Seriously sony's warranty are written to protect them not to protect you. but some people have better luck than other people, so it's hard to say.

Here is their TOS on ADH

so do you think I should just wait a year or 2 and then use the warranty on it? I got a 3 year ADH warranty on the laptop! I only had the laptop for a month
