This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved.     dvd loads but won't run

    z570n running win 7

    My dvd has stopped working. Insert a disc and it makes the usual spinning sounds and i get intermitent animation of disk cursors and then nothing.
    In my computer it just lists dvd drive and no details. I can click open and get an activity bar then nothing.
    I dont know if this is a hardware or win 7 driver or firmware problem.
    the eject button works and I have updated the driver in device manager.
    I am about to buy an external drive.
    any ideas?: :(
