Does anybody know exactly which EVDO card is in this laptop and does it need to be updated? if so, which download is needed from www.sprint.com/downloads ?

btw, EVDO speed for me are excellent .... but still only max 3 bars on wi-fi

The card inside your notebook is a Novatel E720 with Rev A. However I believe depends on which model you have, you may or may not have Rev A. firmware. Here is what I believe although I can't confirm it. TXN1x has the old firmware, and update is needed to get Rev A. while the TXN2x already included the firmware Rev A.

You can't really get the firmware from www.sprint.com/downloads you will have to get it from Sony directly as Sprint does not support what's build into the notebook. Sony's website does contain the new firmware for the E720 card, however they only label Vista compatibility upgrade. Hope this helps you. Personally if you are getting good speed, I wouldn't worry much. :)

i wonder if it is possible to take this card out of the TX and into the SZ. I would guess that they are both mini PCI express cards. Anyone want to trade the cingular edge card for the sprind card?

I don't think is possible. First the SZ is already occupied by the internal wifi. Does the TX have two Expresscard slots? One for Wifi and one for WWAN?
