    Hi,
My Vaio FE gets really hot underneath when I have it unplugged on my laps. It gets hot under the palm rests, exactly where my upper thigh is. Is this normal? Any feedback is greatly appreciated, thanks!
    PS,
It doesnt seem to get that hot when I'm working with it on my desk...

Hello, all notebooks get hot while they are running espescially off the battery, this is quite normal. I would suggest that yours is probably getting very hot on your lap because it isn't recieving adequate air flow/ ventilation. This can be bad for the notebook, so if using it on your lap/legs make sure the vents are not blocked.

Actually I have found that my T250 is not that hot running on AC or battery. It shouldn't be normal if it's burning hot. My friend's T250 is burning hot because his CPU fan is failing. You should check if your CPU is running at a normal temperature.

My UX90ps does get kinda hot...

The FE has a air intake along the centre of the bottom of the laptop, if your leg is covering that it will get hot. A safe temp is between 40C-50C for low power tasks and anything under 70C is still quite normal if your doing anything CPU intensive

The back, ussually. Basically, there's no other place to put the intake, as all sides are occupied by connectors or the DVD bay.

There's a reason why they changed the name from 'laptop' to 'notebook' ;)
