before you do the clean installation, make a copy of the "C:\Program Files\Battery Care" directory, or a similar directory. you can find it easily :)

after a clean installation, you can just copy it back and maually create a shortcut pointing to the executable file. It works.

the battery care function must be able to save the config into bios. I made some configuration in factory installed system, and found it was still effective after a clean installation. Sony does not give you the utility. I have to search around for a solution to change the battery care settings, and found this.

and anybody knows how we can get into the bios for SZ6xx?

Could you please do us the favor of posting a guide to doing a clean install of Vista from start to finish?

sorry i don't think I am clear about every step. basically what i did is download all the drivers and libraries and utilities from sony website, also take some of the missing packages from ftp://ftp.vaio-link.com/pub/OS.

Sony does actually provide the battery care utility to download. It's available in this package. Note that this won't work on XP.
