ah. only seems like wihout a bto, you can buy a 2.1Ghz unit. I doubt many stores will have that one. Must be about $2700 for it. :)

Not as exciting as I thought it would be :)

I still have a few days to return my SZ, so if the specs were much better I'd consider it... but I think I'll keep it.

Yup. Doing a review, just finding time to do it. Started writing it on the plane a week ago.

After reading the original article that Engadget based its posting & Sony Europe’s press release it looks like there will be an SZ2 but with very little change in specs (small chip speed bump is most noticable change) to be released in Europe soon ("soon" from Sony could mean one month or 3 months). No mention of North America getting the changes (although I think it will eventually happen).

About 6 months ago (or more) Sony bumped the TX to a TX2 in Europe. I don’t see the TX2 in US stores or on SonyStyle.com. This makes me question if the SZ2 will make it to the US in a couple months when its released in Europe or if there will be a delay like with the TX2. I’m not stating the SZ2 wont happen in the US, its just a question of how long until the US can get it (holiday ’06 sales maybe?).

I love my T2600 carbon weaved SZ90PS as well :)
xprohx, have you ever looked into replacing the palm rest with the Felica port for a palm rest without?I have an SZ160 I could butcher, but am unsure what lies beneath the 90's palm rest and whether it would work. Do you know if the cover for the Felica port is just a cover. I suspect that it needs the screen there to activate the Edy cards et ali.,

Nope, no plastic problems, no hinge problems, etc. The only thing that I've managed to pop off is the front plate for the DVD, which popped right back on. I put it in my bag wrong and it snagged on something.

Remember that Sony is the king of limited edition laptops for the most part. They can come and go quicker than you blink. I've learned with Sony products overall that if you want it, just buy it.
