    So I just got my new Sony SZ today, and it has all this random trial software and other crap on it that I don't really want. To make sure I get rid of all of it, I kind of wanted to format my hard drive. However, I did not receive any reinstallation CDs with my computer, so if I format it, how would I go about reinstalling my OS? Is their a way to somehow create a reinstallation CD of my own?

    Thanks =]

    there's a thread buried a few pages deep on doing a semi-restore... (The thread explains how to use the recovery discs you can burn with the VAIO Recovery tool to restore the machine partially... without 99% of the cruft. On one of the last few pages of that thread, someone managed to discover a way to do the same thing but with using the recovery partition instead of the DVD's.

    However, even using this method doesn't give you a 100% 'clean' install. While most of the cruft (and all of the trial-ware) is missing from this method of recovery, "Roxio" stuff is still installed (but easily removed.)

    Good luck!

    The first page says it won't work with the recovery partition, however it CAN work with it... read the first page, and then jump to the last page of replies and read the posts in reverse order until you find the post about doing the same with the partition.
