they usually have them on the manufactures website, so SEARCH for them first to see if you computer will have the write enough drivers to run xp

Yep, check the website and see if there is an option for XP drivers. Look for the vital ones, like Audio/Video/Ethrnet/LAN/etc.

agree with the above, they usually have them under the support pages.

Brawn - few things i dont like about Vista...it's not the end of the world for me. i don't do alot of "techie" things with my computer but just some things are annoying and if i were to go back to XP, would be less annoyed when using my laptop.

start up is slow. my laptop specs are MUCH better than my work computer, which uses XP. even once vista is up, my hard drive is constantly running. wireless connection disconnects and sometimes is very difficult to reconnect. XP is just a better option for me.

i did check sony's support site but i am unable to find XP drivers for my model. i've done a little more research and it seems as though you may be able to find a few necessary drivers but not all, so if i end up installing XP, it may work but will either act funny or i will not be able to use it to the fullest.

if someone that has experience with this that can confirm this, that would be appreciated.

The startup differences isn't necessarily exclusively attributed to OS. For example, a Samsung NC10 with an Atom N270 boots up at 25 seconds optimized with XP, while an ASUS N10Jc also with an Atom N270 boots up at over a minute optimized with XP. Different computers have different load times due to longer BIOS and other load times.
