    hard drive moving, solution?

    I have a sony netbook and I had to replace the hard drive. Anyway long story short the hard drive moves a little bit. I can put something on the side of it so that it doesn't move(disconnect). Not exactly sure what kind of material to use so that I do it safely. Need something about half an inch thick, any suggestions?

    I would use a bracket that screws into the drive.

    I use a piece of soft rubber, the kind used to erase pencil marks. These can be cut easily to fit.

    Anything that holds it in place and absorbs vibration will do really - I had an old TR with a spare HDD replacing the optical drive, held in place by electrical tape and and some foam mesh that the hard drive came in folded over to absorb the vibrations from the case around the optical drive. Lasted a trip around the world! Took care to not block that hole they said not to block and to make sure it was held in place from both horizontal axes so it couldn't slip.
