Any 2.5" hard drive should fit into your notebook. Just go to any online site and take a look at their notebook hard drive offerings. Except for a few 1.8" drives, most should be 2.5".

I'd recommend a 5400RPM drive for better performance, 7200 id you can seing it.

I think zazonz was trying to say that 5400 is recommended speed and but that you should get 7200 if you can afford it.

Typical prices for 5400 drives go from a $100-$200 while the prices for 7200 drives are $170 and up.

i'm trying to rescue this system as a video editing platform. it's got a 733mhz pentium III, 584 RAM. i'm not looking for speed necessarily (with that processor its not gonna be fast) but do you think the 7200 HD would make a difference (in light of the slow processor)?

Does anyone know where there are pictures of a PCG model Vaio being taken apart and the HDD being replaced? I'm not quite sure which screws I need to install and I'm hesitant to start ripping off keys. :p

I've got a PCG-F590 Vaio, if that matters.

    EDIT: Nevermind, fixed. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=66665
