    Hi guys,

I'm having a problem with my SR290. The hard drive free space keeps on decreasing. Its fallen from 200 to 175gb, and I haven't installed any new programs. Is this somehow related to Vista Business and does anyone have a solution?

    Thanks!

Its probably for your system recovery, you can set the limit of how much memory you put into your system recovery.

    1. Click the start menu
    2. Click on All Programs, and then Accessories
    3. From the accessories menu, right click on Command Prompt and select “run as administrator”
    4. Type “vssadmin list shadowstorage” into the command prompt
    5. The results should tell you the amount of storage used and the maximum amount alloted

If you’re not happy with those numbers, here’s how to resize them. Keep in mind, you will lose some older system restore points when you do this.

    1. Repeat steps 1-3 to get bring up the Command Prompt
    2. Type “vssadmin Resize ShadowStorage /For=[your hard disk]: /On=[your hard disk]: /MaxSize=[how much space you want to allocate]”
    3. For example: “vssadmin Resize ShadowStorage /For=C: /On=C: /MaxSize=2GB”
    4. You should get a message saying Successfully resized the shadow copy storage association, and you should have more free space on your hard drive. [IMG]

Also note that Vista Business provides caching of files located on Windows or Samba servers, and by default will allow a huge amount of disk space to be used for this.

And, because Vista has been dumbed down to the level of most of its users, the settings for disk space usage are not part of the new Sync Center, and not easily accessible like in XP.

Open "Run" from the start menu, and enter:

    control.exe cscui.dll

Now go to the Disk Usage tab, and change the limits.

Cool, thanks. I was wondering how to do that.

What is the minimum amount of space I should devote to recovery so that I could allow enough space to just have one restore point?
