I was wondering if anyone here has upgraded any hardware on their S460? I was thinking that some better fans would be nice (quiter more effeciant) if possible

i have only upgraded my CPU from PM 740 > 780
    upgraded HDD from 40GB 5400RPM > 100GB 7200RPM
    upgraded ram to 2GB PC4300
i know you can also upgrade the DVD drive (i have DVD±RW/DVD+RDL/DVD-RAM)
i dont know if it is actually possible to upgrade the fan but i guess you can if its not soldered to the mainboard
here is a pic of my fan. i took it the last time i opened my laptop a few months ago
    my model is VGN-S580P

How hard was the HD and the CPU? Will a core 2 Duo work? I am thinking about getting a new SZ and giving this to my parents. Want it to be pretty nice when they get it. Save them some money from having to buy a new one.

As for the fan I was wanting something maybe quiter but way more effeciant if possible.

very easy but the PM 780 cost about $230 from ebay.com
intel core architecture and pentium m architecture are not compatible
    100GB 7200RPM cost $100 from newegg.com
very easy but a lot of screws to remove
u have to yank out 10 screws from the bottom of the laptop
    5 screws beneath the keyboard
3 ribbon cables and 2 tiny sound card cables also from beneath the keyboard
before u can get to the HDD and/or CPU
