Hi, I just bought 22" LCD monitor (LG m2294A). It has HDMI in, DVI in, and VGA. I tried connecting my Vaio SR to it with an HDMI cable. Sadly, it didnt work, the monitor displayed a message saying "out of range". In the monitor's user manual I later noticed that HDMI-PC mode is "not supported".
It does however support DVI-PC mode. So my question is, has anyone tried using one of those HDMI-DVI cables to connect their SR's to a DVI monitor? I have read online that going from HDMI to DVI isn't as simple as going from DVI to HDMI. I would really hate to have to connect to the monitor via VGA since I want to get use out of my HDMI out. While I wait for my cable to get here, I would like to read about your experiences in the matter.
    Thanks!

    Hi Totono
U can hapilly connect laptop HDMI (from nobo) and connect adapter DVI to
your monitor ... there are no differences both connections are digital same quality
HDMI carries sound but u don't need it on 22'' monitor ,
    Go with HDMI to DVI
If it's sony big screen TV of course there will be no thinking about DVI !

thanks evoss! I am glado to say that it works - and its beautiful! There is a noticable difference going digital from vga. I must say this LG screen is beautiful and the best thing is that it has a tv tuner built in! It also has a long array of inputs compared to regular monitors which usually have dvi and vga only. This LG screen has composite, dvi, hdmi, analog video/sound, svideo. It even has a remote control! It's a great all-in-one, but I dont think it is available in the US. Worth checking anyways. Recommended.

    Hello Totono,

Would you kindly give provide me with a quick review of your screen ? I'm planning to buy the very same model (LG M2294A), and I'm reluctant to do so, because as you pointed out, It's not even released in the States (I live in the Middle East, btw) so I could not find reviews in English.

I am a gamer, and I'm mainly buying it for the sake of versatility, to be able to switch between a PC monitor and PS3 screen.

Is there an audio out, in it, btw ? I'm planning to hook the TV into my sound system.

True Mice, sorry for the late reply.
The monitor/tv is great! I have no regrets I use it most of the time as laptop monitor and it works great, i highly recommend connecting it using the dvi port instead of the vga. I also use it often as a TV and it does a great job. The monitor has a nice array of ports so you wont have trouble connecting your PS3 and your PC. It has audio in and audio out. I have it permanently connected to my sound system since the integrated speakers aren't that great.
    Good luck!
