    Hi,

Does anyone know how to reduce the brightness of sony vaio's lcd display? I know I can use fn + F5 to reduce it, but eventhough the brightness is already at 0, it is still too bright for my eyes.

I need to turn off the x-brite feature. It's not convenient for eyes because it introduced more flares and brightness than any other tft displays. Anyone has ideas how to turn off the x-brite feature?

The sony vaio has great performance and design, and I hope I can stay to use this laptop. Perhaps the lcd panel can be exchanged for non-xbrite? Anyone has ideas?

    Thanks,
    James.

Wow, this is probably the first post ever on this site complaining about the LCD being too bright, nicely done.

Anyway, you can't turn off X-Brite, it's part of the LCD panel. If it's too bright for you, you need to return it or sell it and get something else.

Haha...try adjusting the display settings; if it has an Nvidia card go into Nvidia settings you can adjust gamma, contrast, brightness etc. , and I believe ATI and intel integrated cards have similar preferences in the display control panel.

I concur with fenderboy. Just right click on your desktop and select the control panel for the graphis card. You should be able to tweak it there. Otherwise this may not be the right machine for you...
