i reformated my vaio VGN-A49gp, and installed what drivers i had, as i dont have a recovery cd, unfortunately i still cant get the sound to work, i installed the Realtek HD Audio Drivers, ive searched the sony sites but they only have updates for the software. Would some1 have the original recovery cd or be able to link me with the original preinstalled drivers and software that originally came with the vaio, im kinda noobish even though i searched through forums and google etc.

    thanks in advance

Normally--in the US--Sony will give you a complete set of driver, but not any software bundled. Sony seems to think it's your responsibility to create a recovery disc on your own--or pay them to do that :p

Anyway, I found that your model is in Asia-Pacific/Australia which Sony's website/support is really bad. There is no even needed drivers. However, luckily there are only a few sound card drivers out there. So it's worth to try them all. Don't worry it should work.

    1. SigmaTel® Audio Driver >> here
    2. Realtek® High Definition Audio Driver >> here

If they are not working, then we will try to see what it really is next :p
