Hey everyone, I am looking at replacing my laptop with a VGNZ820DB. Quick question, does this laptop have a wwan card slot and antennas? if so can I add any WWAN card or does it have to be a Sony approved card.

    Thanks
    Daniel

Sony doesn't blacklist components like HP does... So any of them should work. And some of the Z models come with a CTO option of a WWAN card, so I'd think that there's an extra mini PCI-e slot. But I really don't know if it's half-mini or a regular mini.

According to the spec it doesn't come with built in wwan.

As it doesn't it will not come with a Sony wwan board and therefore also no antenna.

You can look into adding the wwan mini pci board, ribbon and mini pci card yourself.

You could look into buying these parts from sparepartswarehouse.

This is what it looks like but it will come without a sim card holder in North America.

I would stick with one that has been tried before at least for peace of mind.
