    Hi folks.

I am right now going through a rough time .... because I am not 100% sure what to do.
First one thing I will go with a VAIO Z series this is for certain this is a very nice piece of hardware. Here is the config I have in mind:

    Z590 series (so 1600x900 res)
    BR-RW drive
    4GB Ram
Vista (smallest version I could get since I would have an additional ultimate license here which is not used... thanks to the microsoft events here in Chicago :) )
    320 GB HD.

    So here is my issue:

When I buy it of Sony style (as a CTO) its about $3187 (incl. tax + shipping)
There a no promos going on imo except the -$150 which is included in the price above. With the 320 GB HD 7200 rpm and Vista home.

When I buy if from newegg (Z591U/B) its about 3166 (incl. tax + shipping
so a bit cheaper but only the 5400 rpm HD but Vista ultimate.
Newegg offers a mail-in rebatte where you get either a

    * Docking station + Power supply + Sony BT mouse OR
    * Battery + Power supply + Laptop case
Both would be nice to have :)

The second issue is I need it at my place at 12/15/08.

Seems to me the newegg offer is ways better right now but what offer might sony come up with on Thanksgiving (which would give me 7200 rpm HD)???
If I order Thanksgiving I would not get the CTO in time anymore (most likely).

I would like to have the 7200rpm HD since its faster but is it worth the risk/higher price. Maybe I would end up with a newer Hardware since its direcly from Sony not from a retailer??
Jes... its so freaking stupid :D

    Thanks for sharing you opinion.

I'm quite sure that the deal where if you buy the Vaio Z, SR or Z and you receive a free Productivity or Mobility bundle after rebates applies if you buy the notebook from any Sony authorized dealer, not just Newegg and it expires December 31st.
