hello, i was wondering if any of you could help me with a problem i'm having.

i bought a customized f series vaio a few years ago (2010, model VPCF1290X) and it's worked perfectly up until a week ago. my sister dropped it, and now the wifi switch on the front (left side) is extremely loose. now whenever i login to windows, i can't connect to any networks. windows troubleshoot says to enable my wifi adapter. i'm assuming i need the switch to do this? am i out of luck or is there some way to fix this?

thanks in advance and sorry if i shouldn't post this in this thread guys.

The switch probably appears loose to you because it is not the switch - it is the plastic knob that is supposed to operate the switch inside. When it got dropped, the switch popped out of the notch in the knob, so no the knob is moving freely, and not doing anything to the switch itself.

Open the back cover and re-position the plastic knob so that moving the knob operates the switch.

The drop might also break the knob, so the switch is moving freely.
In anyway, you may have to open the bottom cover to check the switch as anytimer said above.
