Hi,
I have got a VAIO AW11XU with an SSD C: drive (128 GB) and a standard HD as D: drive.
C: drive just died (after only 9 months of use) and thus lost all the booting capability of the machine (VISTA was on SSD).
I back-up all data from D: drive using VAIO recovery center onto an external USB drive and I now want to use this data on another PC, while Sony repairs my VAIO.
Problem:
any file bigger than 4.189.454 kB gets split into extensions 0000, 0001, 0002, 0003,... (obviously the rescue data utility wants to use DVD back-up and does not care if my USB drive is much bigger than 4 gigs).
How can I reconstruct the original file now using a new computer that I want to use until Sony repairs my VAIO?
In other words, is there a way to recover these data without using the same VAIO recovery center?

my fault!
the USB hard drive that I used for back-up was on FAT32 and could not handle files larger than 4gigs, so the Sony utility was clever enough to split them.
To rebuild the files, I converted USB drive to NTFS and then used hjsplit.exe (after renaming extensions to .001, .002, .003 etc).
Sorted
how do I rebuild data 'rescued' by VAIO recovery center
