    how do i create a store point that does not delete when i clean up the harddisk?

    I'm not sure you can.
    There may be a file to copy.
    Are you formating & clean installing?
    You cant even take restore points with you ween you upgrade.

    Right click My Computer and go to properties.
    Or
    Control Panel and go to system..

    on the left pane look for System protection.
    now you should have the system protection tab of System properties up.

    as long as you have system restore running on your drive you can select the drive here and hit the Create button.
    Otherwise
    you can turn it on or off here too.
