From command Prompt c:\diskpart (enter), list volume (enter), select volume 1(enter), list partition (enter), select partition 1 (enter), delete partition override (enter).... be sure you have a recovery disk, if you ever need to restore system..

This actually is my question as well:

If I use the official Sony Vaio Recovery Center, will it copy all the info from the hidden volume to the DVDs? And after I have used it (Create Recovery Discs), can I then safely delete the hidden volume?

When you run the utility to create recovery media, one of the options is to delete the recovery partition. I think it is the best way to get rid of it.

If I boot into this recovery partition, I get to format my SR to its factory settings?

Before deleting the partition make sure you created copy of recovery dvd if ever you want to restore computer back to it's factory setting. First you can use a retail version of Vista to remove the partition or you can try using a partitioning Sw like partition magic to merge the hidden partition without reformating the system.
