    how is fan noise on SR vs. Z series?

    Fan noise can bother me. It did on my SZ, so that's my reference.
    Has anyone compared the fan noise on the SR vs. the Z series?

    The Z series seems to be louder than most people anticipate. How does this compare to the T400 from Lenovo?

    I thought that the newest montevina chips were much cooler.

    hm.. i own the Z with a P9500 and i had the SR with T9400? (the one with 2.8GHz)

    and i noticed that the SR runned a lot warmer than the Z, especially during games.. but that may be due to a faulty fan.. don't know..

    but the fan noise on both are the same imo

    I have the SR with a 8400, and on normal usage, I have to put my ear next to the vent to hear the fan. When I stress it (which only happened during windows install) I could make out the fan noise, but only if the room was completely silent. With any background noise it disappeared.

    It gets slightly warm, but not badly. Certainly comfortable for laptop use.

    the SR is a quiet performer :) i hardly hear the fan regardless of what i am doing with the laptop, idle, surfing, or gaming.

    I can hear the fan on my Z only if there is absolutly no other noise in the room. (bedroom during the night). It's not very loud but it really doesn't stop.
