hi, there. i've use the semi-clean method to install the vista business in it. and i've add nothing else to it, but it still take me about 30 minutes to wait untill the hard drive stop spin. (by the way, i turn off the pagefile memory,so there is no virtual memory on the hard drive, and i also turn off the system restoring function to avoid the writting to hard drive) and some time i can hear the metal sound "keke, keke" come from the hard drive. is this normal or there is something wrong with my hard drive?
how long it takes you guys to wait until the hard drive stop spinning.

i have heard this metal clicking down intermittently, even when the HD is not active.

As for disk activity, do a google search on "vista hard disk activity" and you will see you are not alone. The main reasons are 1. SuperFetch (where Vista spends time loading frequently used programs into RAM) and 2. Disk Indexing (where vista keeps a list of all files for quick searching).

I would advise against disabling your pagefile as this may cause instability.

thanks for your reply, but 30 minutes, it's a long time, i don't even want to touch the notebook while it's spinning.
oh, i've installed window xp instead of vista, but the same things happened, isn't that weird?
