does anyone have the problem of their vaio keys popping out or crapping out on them?![]()
-
Yeah I do, with my FS315M.
My PageUp key is damaged. It is a real shame Sony cut the budget on the keyboards, something you always use and has the most to suffer must not be the weakest point of your machine. Other Sony laptops seem to have a better keyboard
[edit]
It only took me 8 months before the Page Up key came off :/ I don't know if this is under warranty I'll try to get a new one in July when i go to holidays. I can't live without a computer for a few days

I've had my SZ-160 for 1 1/2 yrs no problems. I use it for work in a research lab and share with two other students. The keys don't appear worn.

ive owned 3 Vaios in past 4yrs and notta prob with any

Owned a S360 in the past for about a year and no problems with the keys. Currently own a SZ150 for almost a year now and keys work perfectly, as if the unit is brand new.

I have an SZ with a black keyboard. There are a couple of letters that are starting to go. The "A" key and the number "6". The spacebar and some keys have a glossy worn look on parts of the plastic which isn't consistant with the matte finish of the keyboard new. I was thinking of ordering the silver keyboard when the new Hitachi 7200 rpm hard drives come out. Since the hard drive is under the keyboard I thought I would change them together. The lighter keyboard is easier for me to see.

Hmm
I've had the SZ for 8 months now and it my keyboard is still in very good condition.
My T series keyboard is a bit damage. My space bar is very shinny (if you know what i mean) and some of my letters is chip off. My biggest problem is the touch pad (left and right button) is totally scratch. The original silver is gone. -
If you're worried about the keys wearing out get a keyboard protector.

"If you're worried about the keys wearing out get a keyboard protector."...
LOL! I have a better idea! Don't use the keys! -
I think it depends on how well you take care of your notebook. Some people handle things very roughly, but do not agree that they are doing so!

My left touchpad button has crapped out on me. I have to press it in really hard to get it to register, which I don't want to do for fear of damaging it further.
I've resorted to enabling the tap function, which leads to many problems in other areas. Do you think it's still under warranty? It's from October 2006. (Probably not)
-
Isn't there a 1 year warranty on all VAIOs? If so, your warranty only expires in October this year (2007)... You should give Sony a call!
-
Hmmm. Will do today, then.

Unless you are really rough with it, it shouldn't break even with a fair amount of workload. Afterall, it's a product from a quality company like Sony.
how long has your vaio keyboards lasted?
