I bought a Z in July and notice the battery time is short and short?
in July it can last more than 2.5 hours even at 80% charge, now is 1 hour only, any thing wrong?
BTW is battery care working?
I think Sony is quite poor in battery management area, they should provide a application list thinkpad to test the current then tell you how long it can last.

If you're not familiar with the battery drain issue, then perhaps this topic is of interest:

Solinx: This has little or nothing to do with the battery drain issue, it's about battery lifetime.
I get around 4-4.5 hours on a full battery with WiFi on but light use on my year old Z. More if I turn WiFi and sound off (like if reading e-books), and less if I do heavier work. -
Any one can provide battery life data for 6 month old Z?
-
4-6 hours, Stamina, depending on load, I would ask Sony for replacement if I were you

it doesnt matter. you have have full charge, you get around 4-5 hours or so. if you just had the laptop idle meaning not plugged in, it suffer from battery drain. after 2 days, you'll get a surprise why it's down to 10% left. answer = battery drain issue. and then you wonder why you didnt discover this website that could have factored your decision about buying a Z. no more... ever sony laptops.

Wow...thats amazing.
I will try and see how long my Z51 will last.... -
Any update? my battery still have 1hour + plus, is it normal for a 10 mths old Z46?
-
I got my VAIO Z520, 15 months of use, and the battery can last 4-7 hours on Stamina.
Most of the time I can squeeze 4 hours of development work (VS 2008) and 7 hours taking notes on meetings, both with wifi on. -
Are you sure the number you posted is actual and not the calculated estimate Windows gives?
EDIT: This is in reference to my Z591, btw -
I get some great times with my standard, as well as the extended, using Office, web surfing, listening to music, etc. But not 7:38. I believe I have Vaio Power Management (I never did a clean install). Could you elaborate as to what you've done?
-
Can you go into the VAIO Control Center and tell us what it says about the battery condition?
From my Z591:
-
my Z-46GD is P9700+6GB RAM+320G HD, 10 months old but 1.5 hours battery only even in Power Saver mode. Is it normal?
Even it is new can last aorund 2-3 hours only. I really like to know how your guys did to get 7 hours. -
Without wanting to make a technical meal out of this, it is important to note that battery life will vary dependant on your processor, hard drive, disk drive.
ie,
the 3.06ghz core 2 duo vs 2.4ghz will make a difference
ssd vs spindle
blue ray vs cd -
I have a Z790. When the battery was new, I think it lasted around 5 or so hours under Stamina mode.
One caveat, the battery was useless in 8 months. It wouldn't charge above 50-60% by April and it had it replaced just recently under my insurance plan. I had battery care enabled to 80% and just like ZoinksS2k, the battery condition showed as good. I didn't have it plugged in all the time either. I'm currently using the Vaio without the new battery plugged in unless I need to use it away from AC.
how long the VGN Z notebook battery can last?
