    In a nutshell:

. Get a hold of a Vista Installation Disk

. Collect all needed drivers and utilities from Sony Support Site

    . Install the OS

. Install the drivers and utilities.

. Or use the recovery DVDs

    . Good lucks

    cheers ...

If you made the 3 recovery dvd's, just pop them in the DVD drive and boot up the laptop, it should run through a setup process and copy everything to your new hard drive.

I have basically the same problem - wiped the complete hard drive (forgot about the recovery partition!)

I have my 3 DVDs, but no recovery partition now. When I boot off the first DVD it goes through the recovery 'wizard' and I can select to restore the entire system. However, it tells me that it cannot find the drive letter for the recovery partition. If there a way to do this with JUST the DVDs and no recovery partition? TIA!

Don't worry, take the OS disc(vista) and boot off of it, let windows vista install, then use your drivers disc to install the device drivers. Pretty simple.
