Could you post a photo of the ends of the cable which you need help with connecting? (hint: use the macro mode of your camera) Which end(s) of the cable do you need help with connecting?

When you take the cable off, just make sure to remember which way the brown? clip part goes in as it fits in two ways but only works in one.

Sorry, I don't have a video. All I previously did was align the connector and then push down on the squishy part directly above the connector and it would click in.

Make sure there is nothing left stuck in the motherboard connector from the piece you broke. Don't push anything in 'as hard as you can' or you will break it again. It clicks in VERY easily. Make sure you hold the cable flat before pushing it into the connector.

Does anyone know how to boot up the machine manually with a broken keyboard connector? Just posting here to say i just broke this today while also trying to clean out the fan. $100+ for a ribbon cable!?! Anyway i can't bootup the laptop anymore! Is there way to boot up the machine without the keyboard part? It seems that holds the power button switch but surely there must be a way to manually turn on the pc while i order this part. It could take a few weeks delivering to oz.

I am facing the same problem. Did you actually resolve the main problem by replacing the FPC-199? Did the manual power to start up the laptop work? Please let me know!
