Isn't there any switch on the notebook in the front to turn it off?

And aside from the switch, I would look for a blue icon in your tray and right-clicking it should give you an option to stop the device.

If needed, you can always go manually into either the bios (if supported) or the device manager and disable it there.

I've found that there isn't any option to stop it when right clicking on the BT-icon not on this notebook and not on another either :)

I agree with gengerald here. Easiest way on any windows system is to do the following:

    1) In Windows, go to Start

    2) Right Click My Computer (for Windows XP) or Computer (for Vista)

    3) Select Properties from the list that shows

    4) In the new window that opens, look for and click on the Device Manger tab/link (XP will use a tab at the top of the window while Vista will have it in a list to the top left of the window)

    5) In the new window that opens, look for the bluetooth adapter. Normally it will either have its own category or will be within Network Adapter or Portable Devices depening on the manufacturer and driver setup.

    6) Once you have found the bluetooth adapter listed in the Device Manager, right click and select Disable. (For this example, I will use my LAN just so you see what I mean)

There you go, it should pop up saying disabled and it is now turned off. You will probably also get a notice from the Bluetooth connectivity software about not being able to see a Bluetooth antenna anymore to use to connect to others. If you ever want to re-enable Bluetooth, just follow the above process again and select Enable and it should automatically turn back on. Just as a heads up, while rare, it is possible that the system will request a restart whenever enabling and disabling certain drivers, so you may have to do this before the action will take affect.

My g/f's SR has the Sony Wi-Fi utility, which is a simple pop-up that allows you to turn on/off both LAN and Bluetooth. One of the few things i kept because it makes it simple to turn the bluetooth on/off
