    I want to order a Z540 from sony.com

I find that I need to pay extra $250 to upgrade the hard driver from 120(5400rpm) to 320G (7200rpm) on sony.com.

however, a 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb Seagate 320GB 7200 RPM only need to pay $99 on newegg.

    1. Whether the Z540 uses a 2.5", or 1.8" HD?
    2. Whether can I replace the HD myself? I want to make sure that before placing the order to sony.com

I had searched from google, but I can not find any clue for that.

    Thanks a lot

    Thank you, Lamtutu

the HD protected by Impact Protection : G-Sensorâ„¢ Shock Protection.

so, I think that probably there is some sensitive device attached to the HD.

Is there any important rule when I replace the HD myself?

    Thanks a lot.

I did it myself last week.

It was easy and just follow post #4.

Start from the CD, then wiggle your way. The top left corner seem to be the hardest. Just wiggle it.
