has any one tried installing any other wireless card than the one that came with the SZ? I was thinking of upgrading to 802.11n, but did not want to add a PCMCIA adapter, but actually getting a 4965AGN adapter and replacing it with the present one. But i have heard about bios lock up problem with other manufacturers like toshiba, which wont let you boot up since the bios has been locked to use a particular minipcie card. sony is known to "lock" their products, anyone can confirm this? i dont want to waste money and realize this after getting the card.

    Just completed an upgrade
Good news, Instalation is a breeze.
Bad news, I cannot get the 4965agn to work at speeds above 54mb/s with my Linksys WAG300N router. I have Netgear USB adapters that will connect at 300MB/s so the issue isn'tthe router.
I have tried everything I can find online to fix problem to no avail, removing securirty, using wpa2-psk and aes, removing drivers, removing card, setting bios to defualts, reinstalling card and reinstalling latest intel drivers... very frustrated, about to give up and get a refund on the new card

I did the install on my old SZ. You need the 4965 card and one more antenna. I never benchmarked like ivangill. My system did see and connect with draft N router WRT600N Linksys. The extra antenna I found on eBay and also through Sony parts. I just asked them for the antenna from a newer SZ model. I have a new 4965 for sale if you decide to do it.
