since the 170 and 180 seem to have the internal card for cingular edge (very very slow) is it possible to switch to verizon EVDO (by buying whatever internal card they are using on the IBM).

also does the 160 have the antenna and connections to install a do it yourself EVDO internal card? i am currently using the verizon EVDO external card and it's got a huge antenna out the side.

No its not possible to install it. You would have to buy a pc card and insert it into your notebook.

On a side note, how do you like Verizon EVDO? I want to get 3G wireless and am undecided on who to get it from, Verizon, Sprint, or Cingular.

What kind of download speeds do you actually see with Verizon?

verizon EVDO is amazing, i dont know about the actual numbers but it feels like a slightly slower wifi connection. if you are in a covered market. i think right now sprint has the edge in terms markets. there is an EVDO website that compares the different services. I think cingulars 3g (not edge the other thing) is very new and very limited
