I've been trying to enable AHCI mode for full SATA support on my machine and haven't been able to load the AHCI driver in either linux or windows. The controller seems to be configured for IDE mode (no NCQ etc), and there is no option in the BIOS to switch it to AHCI. As far as I can tell, if there's no setting in the BIOS, AHCI is permanently disabled, and you might as well be using an IDE disk... Can anyone confirm one way or another if this machine (or any others from mid-2006 timeframe) can use AHCI or not?
