The sources of LCD panels is a mystery and is generally something that comes from more than one manufacturer for a computer. So it is possible Sony makes the displays in some Dell models, but you'd never know without taking them apart.

The screens used on the 17 inch Dell 9300 and XPS2 come from LG and Samsung, but not Sony. The Xbrite screens are better than those found on the Dells.

Sony don't even make LCD panels. There are only 3 LCD panel manufacturers: LG-Phillips, Samsung, and AU-Optronics (Acer/BenQ group).

Onyx, that's not true. Sharp makes heir own panels and distrbutes them and I'm fairly certain Sony makes their own panels too, though they don't use them in everything they sell.
