    here goes another question?

is the DVD player on the sz4 (likely same for other sz series) REGION-FREE?

travel in both North America and Europe and would like to just drop by a video store and rent a movie instead of hauling the dvds.. nor do i want to convert to other formats.

if not does, does anyone have a firmware flash that works for it? should i even risk it? only had machine for a couple of weeks

    Thanks for your help.

I have tried it with my SZ450. The DVD is not region-free. You need to change the region code in order to play DVDs from different region. You can change the region code up to 4 times.
However, I am pretty sure that you could find some firmware update on the net which could reset the counter with your own risk :)
