A better option, Use FFDShow and set it to handle most the audio codecs, then go down to the volume tab, You can set the volume 700% higher than standard, though this would probably reduce the quality of the sound and I wouldnt recommend it, I put it at 150% and have the windows media player volume at about 80% works really well for me and theirs not deterioration of sound quality.

yo bro!!.....i bought the fe38gp last month...runs like a dream..no issues yet...sound is loud enough..i don't think increasing the sound beyond prescribed maximum is a good idea for the notebook since the speakers support just that.............dude it could spoil the speakers.........though i'm not sure!!.

well hope you have fun with the baby!!.....njoi

I was pretty surprised when my S260 a 13.3" laptop was louder then my K45 15.4" 9lbs monster!!! The s260 half volume is loude as the LOUD setting on the k45...

But if you just maximize the volume level in ffdshow to a nominal ammount, it should not damage the speakers...Just dont go overboard and blow up the speakers..
