Is it normal to have a little bit of a rattle in the top left part of the screen? i can hear it when i flick the bezel a little bit or shake the notebook? should i return it for another one?

Eveything else seems good though, except all the freakin sony software. Will my wireless stuff still work if i uninstall all the sony wireless software and just use the easy to use and nice windows wireless? Should i do i clean install or is it fine just to uninstall all the junk?

    This is a Z530

return it, it's not normal. It's an expensive thing, it should be perfect.

so when you close your lid, and you tap on the back of it, it makes a solid thunk noise, like it is one peace? or does it make a noise like the lid is hitting the backlight, a wire or the screen or...? i guess the noise is actually coming from the middle.... my screen looks flawless though!

I don't hear anything on my Z540. Windows/Intel wifi works fine. Just finished semi-clean install earlier and now using the Windows wifi. No problem here.

The only useful bit of the Sony wireless software may be the Wireless Switching Utility (or whatever it's called in Vista), as that allows you to decide what features are on when the physical wireless switch is on: WiFi, BlueTooth or WWAN (or a combination of those).

so i went to bestbuy to see if their z made the same kind of noise when you tap it on the back, and it does, but i think mine might be louder... what do other people hear when you tap the back of the screen?
It just doesn't make the solid thunk noise i would expect it to make?

Why would u tap it to begin with?

From my experience, that screen is very very thin.

I don't know how hard you tap it, if I really hit it hard I can hear something like the backlid hitting the LCD panel. It definitely does not sound like the magnesium lid on my old S170, but I had to really hit it to hear it.
