    is this a sad joke?

the guy at the store said vista biz takes about 20 GB; does it?

anyhow, i plan to put a recovery "disk" onto a memory stick, then erase the partitioned piece of the ssd. of course i will remove all bloatware. but i need office 2007 and a few other programs. how much space will this take up from the 32 gb flash?

for reference, on my SZ-270 with xp pro and office 03, i use barely 16 GB.

i would prefer to do a clean install of xp on a new TZ, but i don't think i can handle it.

i am willing to store music and video on removable storage (i think that can add up to 24gb with 8 on a ms, and 16 on sd), or burn onto dvd.

bottom line, do i need to wait for the 64 MB ssd version which is bound to come out fairly soon??

Twenty GB free. Vista takes 10GB for sure. 2GB for necessary apps, including Office 2007 (about 600MB), Adobe Reader, etc.

So the remainder on that TZ191 is bloatware. If you saw just 8GB left, it was likely about 10GB of crap, because another 2GB goes to System Restore and Hibernate.

32GB is enough for OS and applications when you have another 160GB for data.

    Like the japanese models.

ps. i am selling one, PM me for details.

...or you could use vLite and make a small Vista version.

I'm definitely going to return my newly purchased TZ191 and wait for the 195. At the Sony store they guys had no clue this was even coming out - how does Amazon know stuff before Sony salesmen? They even im'd with their technicians at their service center...

I was trying to do what was suggested above (burn recovery dvds and delete the partition to recover space). Was able to format the partition fine but I can't seem to use Windows Disk Management (or any other third party partition software) to extend my system partition to the unpartitioned space. Has anyone been successful in doing this? It sucks, now I have two drives, and am trying to make the best of the ~6gb of space - I want one big drive. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

most of sony salesmen are uttely idiot people, so as most eletronic store salesmen, most of them are just sooo dumb and uneducated,
and sometimes i just want to go F to them.

honestly i just cant believe these cheap salesman. they wear pro-like suits to service customers, but the moment you ask them anything 'slightly' details, they just don't know. This is mainly because they have their own reasons. They don't need to know these details!!, and no-one checks that, the only thing matters is whether they can 'sell' products or not. E.G. the more they sell the more commissions they get, and then they can rank up higher...
So, basically these cheap salesmen know how-to, and how-not-to learn any details, except studying very hard on how to trick/persuade people to buy the products, etc...

The only things I like them is sometimes, when I trick these salesman's a$$ to swap/replace something to a better model or something, (these happens to me occasionally).

I know Im not a sony guy but....

I have a 32G Dell and can get as much as 12Gb free space by tweaking and doing a clean install. Since that also includes 3Gb for MeiaDirect, you could probably increase that to 15Gb which includes Ultimate and just under 4Gb personal files as well as a reduced page file sys with absolutely no performance decrease under optimum testing. I also run this system under 64Bit Vista Ult.

Sales people are not always to blame for their lack of knowledge. I know that, personally, I would not always tell sales people about new products coming out. If they knew, then they would not focus on selling the products that we currently have in stock.
