Don't know about the Sony, but if you want the best laptop keyboard, I would suggest a ThinkPad.

I've been on a smaller keyboard for years and enjoy it. The TX is actually pretty reasonable.

The TX is surprisingly easy to type on considering the way it looks. To me the keys look more like little buttons than keys, however when you use it you find itÂ’s definitely a keyboard. The keys have good travel and depth. All in all it's a very comfortable keyboard.

i purchased a sony tx651 (like tx650 but w/o the WWAN gizmo). i hate this keyboard!

the unit is only a few months old, and the keyboard is already flaking out. the "g" key and the spacebar don't work halfthe time.(see this ishow poorly it works.) i sometimes have to press a key several times to get the keystroke to register.

besides the flakiness, the keyboard is just poorly designed. they keys have some kind of slippery coating that may look cool but makes the keys less usable.

the touchpad is too big, meaning that i often touch it by accident when i'm reaching for the spacebar. the buttons also extend beyond the left/right edges of the touchpad, so it's too easy to hit them by accident. and the buttons do seem to sometimes treat an accidental touch as a "click".

also, the placement of the keyboard is poor: it's too close to the front edge. this makes the "palm rest" area a bit too small, which makes for a cramped hand position. this hampers my typing speed, and exacerbates the problem with the touchpad size.

i'm going to have to replace this keyboard.

I've been playing with the TX37...just got it 4 days ago.

They keyboard is really nice...it's far better than the competing ultraportables from Fujitsu (P7xxx series) or LG (TX Express series).

There's a very nice springy feel to it.

I'm in no position to say how long they would last though...that is my current immediate concern.

But at the moment, I really love those keys...they are the best I have experienced so far.

Have you used any other ultraportables before?

I agree. The TX series is an ultraportable..obviously the keyboard will be small. It is quite springy and reactive. If you were to do any serious typing or gaming , i would highly sugest you bring arround a usb keyboard.

I have small hands tho .. So I guess its up to the user. I type on the Vaio TX all day long and it doesn't bother me any bit.
