i need some help please, I am looking for a sony laptop, it must have a screen size of between 10" and 12", it doesnt have to be a brand new model, i am willing to go back a few years, as long as it fast enough to surf the web and read emails etc. I would also prefer windows XP. Prices should ideally be under £500 ($1000 ish)

thanks in advance for your help!

Check out the MSI wind. It runs XP fine, has a 10inch LED screen, 1.6g atom processor, 80 gb hd, 1 g ram (ddr2). windows XP All for 600$. Its out in the UK now I think.

the MSi wind is a better value than the mini note spec for spec. The mini note's only advantage is its keyboard. I haven't had a chance to see the wind yet but I was disappointed by the mininote's overly gloss screen.

The smallest Vaio is the TZ with an 11.1" screen. However, it is in a somewhat different price category to the MSI Wind.

You may be able to find a second-hand older TX series at a reasonable price.
